Woods - Nahuna
Intro:
Today’s post features the artist Nahuna who just released his latest single. It’s not the first song of his I’ve heard, but this is the very first time I’m covering him on the website. Nahuna is a hardworking artist & the passion he has for music is undeniable. With all that said, let’s jump right into his new single “Woods” that came out this weekend.
Summary:
In his own words, “The song talks about how stress could really penetrate basic life functions and that sometimes it's healthy to get back in the woods which means a spot to relax and start over”. The song has very relatable themes; detailing physical & emotional aspects of being stressed out.
While mainly about dealing with stress, I also love the metaphor/wordplay with “woods”. Woods can be interpreted as a place of relaxation, reset, back to your roots/nature, etc. However, it is also meant to literally mean getting some backwoods & smoking marijuana to ease the stresses of life.
Nahuna flows at a slow pace on this song with spaced out vocals & a more laidback/subdued delivery. It adds to the vibe & euphoric sound of the song. The beat features some very wavy, spacey & atmospheric pads/sounds. It feels like the listener is traveling through a drug-induced dimension filled with mystical forests. The drums here are very subtle, yet the kick & snare punch through the mix very smoothly.
Overall:
Nahuna comes through with a solid song that is definitely worth your listen. The lyric video (linked below) gives you a better idea of the lyrics on Woods. It’s great seeing artists explore their creativity in an effective manner. It was a pleasure listening to & reviewing this new single. Thank you for reading, and enjoy Nahuna’s new single below.
