Why Aminé Can Dominate The 2020s
Intro:
Aminé is an artist that many thought would be a one-hit-wonder after his breakout single “Caroline” went viral. Since then, he’s gone on to drop 4 successful & well-received commercial projects. His latest one, “TWOPOINTFIVE”, was a real step of improvement for the already talented artist. I truly think he has the right balance of quality & mainstream appeal to dominate the next decade of music. Here are 5 reasons why he shouldn’t be underestimated as a frontrunner for the 2020s.
5. He Has A City To Himself
Aminé proudly represents his hometown of Portland, Oregon. It’s a city with a very talented music scene but is often overshadowed by larger Hip-Hop markets. This works in his favor though because he’s not in a position to compete with other large artists as many other stars deal with in this cut-throat industry. One thing I think I’d like to see from Aminé is more collaborations with local artists like Wynne. In short, he’s easily the face of his city’s rap scene, and could really put Portland on the map.
4. Extremely Diverse
It’s really difficult to pin Aminé to a specific sound. One of my favorite skills is versatility, and he has tons of it. In the age of streaming, it’s an incredible ability because it allows for multiple opportunities to be included in several different kinds of playlists. The best part about this is that it never sounds like Aminé forces himself to be different. Whether it be Pop, Rap, or R&B, he really has music for all different kinds of music lovers.
3. Still A Young Age
Another thing that helps Aminé out a lot is how young he is. With the amount of success he’s had, he’s still only 27 years old. While there are tons of younger rappers, he’s at the perfect age for a few reasons. First, he’s old enough to make the right decisions & has a sense of maturity that isn’t present in the common teen/early 20s rappers in the industry right now. But, he’s also young enough to still appeal to kids/teens. Young people make up the vast majority of Hip-Hop’s market audience.
2. Already Has Hit Songs
As mentioned in the introduction, Aminé was predicted to be a one-hit-wonder by many people. He’s proven these doubters wrong over & over again throughout the years. While not as many as some other artists, he has a total of 2 platinum singles & 3 gold-certified singles. This proves that he does have massive hit-making potential, but opts to be more of a quality musician. Regardless, he’s already proven himself on the mainstream stage.
1. His Style/Brand
Last, I think his personal style/brand has always been ahead of the game. We’re in a time where men & women are freely expressing themselves through fashion in whatever way they like. Aminé dresses very bold & has a great taste in fashion. Whether it be bright colors or an unorthodox piece of clothing, he sticks out from many others in the best way possible. I feel that the way he presents himself matches exactly what you expect the music to sound like: fun & exciting.
Overall:
I do think Aminé can be a real staple in the genre if he plays his cards right. He’s still very early in his career and is only becoming more established over time. We technically only have 2 official albums of his so far, not including his 2 digital mixtapes. Do you think he’ll be one of the biggest artists this decade?
