One More Time - XavierRoy

Intro:

Today’s post features the artist XavierRoy. He hails from South England but originally was born in London. Some of his influences include artists like JME, Brent Faiyaz, Isaiah Rashad, and Lauryn Hill. Xavier’s music reflects these influences while uniquely having its own touch. There’s a lot to be said below about this exciting single he’s sharing with us.

Summary:

XavierRoy’s voice is smooth & softly doesn’t overpower the song’s other sounds. It adds to the chill aesthetic of the record, and the vocal mix is near industry quality. His foreign accent is easily digestible for American listeners; which gives him the ability to appeal to both countries. His flow is also laidback as he rides the beat gracefully. The song’s catchy chorus features him asking for one more moment (to smoke) with his romantic interest. I enjoy how his lyrics subtly tell a relatable story, and the great rhyme scheme he displays on the 2nd verse.

Thematically, he expresses how he smokes to feel great & get his mind off things. There are 2 ways I interpreted the woman he’s speaking to/about & can’t get out of his head. On one hand, he could be speaking to a woman he just met at a club. Either that and/or he’s reminiscing on an older lover from his past. The beat of this song is extremely bouncy & vibe-inducing. It features luscious chords, a soft bassline, tons of panned percussion sounds & beautifully sprinkled synth hits. Artists like Noname, Smino, or Mick Jenkins would be the perfect features to have on a song like this. I love the subtle elements of Lofi Hip-Hop like the producer’s drum selection.

Overall:

In short, this is probably one of the best songs that have been submitted to Wav.Max. XavierRoy is pretty talented & has a long successful career ahead of him. He blends elements from Hip-Hop, R&B, Lofi & more very well. I recommend this track to anyone that’s a fan of any of these genres or the artists mentioned in the introductory paragraph. Thank you for reading, and enjoy XavierRoy’s new single below.
