Keogea Shares More About New Project “UNEXPECTED” & Its Creation

Intro:

Today we have an interview with New York’s rising star Keogea. His new project “UNEXPECTED” focuses on key themes such as self-belief and authenticity. The influences behind his unique style can be traced back to other vulnerable authentic artists like Kanye West, Juice WRLD, and XXXTENTACION. Outside of the music itself, there is a lot of time & hard work from Keogea that went into the full creation itself. Before reading our brief conversation, make sure you listen to Keogea & his music today down below.

Me: What was the creative process while making your new project “UNEXPECTED”?

Keogea: What got me inspired was the beats my mix and mastering engineer Moustafax2 sent me. It inspired this idea of a project to drop with all exclusive beats by him, for the next step in my journey. He and my people were a part of the creative process giving ideas for the EP.

Did you draw inspiration from any specific genres or artists?

I really got it most of the inspiration from how I feel currently, this project is all present. Even though I held it for 2 years. The project has sprinkles of inspiration from Kanye West, Juice WRLD, and I would say XXXTENTACION. Overall a very original body of work, where I'm me all the way through.

Nice! And, how would you describe your overall current style of music?

My main genre is Hip-Hop/Rap, my sound has evolved tremendously going from R&B into Alternative Rap mixed with pop and rock elements.

You did a great job with the execution of this album! What themes or messages do you hope listeners take away from this release?

Just keep going and never stop believing in yourself. Make something that makes you happy and feel good. Look back, saying I am proud of what I did here. Most importantly you're not alone, there's someone out there that understands what you feel and is expressing it for you.

What was the most challenging part of the recording process?

The time putting everything through Dolby Atmos and pushing my sound to new heights.

Now, where does your stage name originate from? Has it ever changed in the past?

My stage name is my Native American name, Keogea stands for a strong leader and warrior.

Do you have any upcoming releases or plans that you're comfortable sharing with the readers?

Yes, I have another EP coming out this year called "RAG3 & M3MORIES".

And finally, in your own words, why should a new listener check out this song today?

They should check out my music because I am speaking for so many people, who don't have the bravery to say what they feel at the moment. My goal is to make them more comfortable expressing themselves. Letting them feel you're not alone, I've went through what you feeling right now in this current time. So chin up and keep going like a soldier!
