Intro:

Not much needs to be said about the history or legacy of the legendary Kanye West, as he’s arguably one of the greatest artists of our generation. Donda is here & is his most collaborative album in his discography. Personally, I loved this new release & think it’s a great tribute to his late mother of the same name. Here are the Top 5 features on Kanye West’s “Donda”, in my opinion.

*Honorable Mentions: The Weeknd, Sunday Service Choir, Travis Scott, Lil Baby & Shenseea*

One of the perfect people to have feature on an album like Donda. Right when he comes in on “Jesus Lord”, his verse immediately demands the listener’s attention. Along with matching the religious tones, Jay bodies this instrumental with his insane rhyme schemes & stone cold flow. There are also too many amazing lines to showcase, such as:

I shake the tectonic plates of the game if I lay one vocal

These artists both sound like other dimensional beings on the song “Moon. Don’s voice appears first singing the chorus beautifully in a high vocal register. Both his & Cudi’s vocals feel very smooth & dynamic laying across the lovely guitars. I like how Cudi’s verse is personal & subtly touches on mental health in certain lines. Overall, this song is very intoxicating & enchanting.

Fivio has easily given Kanye West the best verse he’s laid in his career. I’ll be honest, I automatically questioned his appear when it was first revealed to be on the tracklist. BUT, this is not the case at all with the way his rhymes are flowing on “Off The Grid”. He touches on his experience in the music industry, as well as his life growing up in the streets. Additionally, his ad-libs on “Ok Ok” sound great next to Ye.

Everyone was anticipating the looming reunion between Kanye West & JAY-Z. It was nice & refreshing seeing them collaborate on music again. Jay gives an outstanding verse that perfectly fit the themes of the album. His flow might throw some off, but I thought it was pretty entertaining. Similar to Electronica, he had way too many amazing lines to count:

Hova and Yeezus, like Moses and Jesus

1. Vory

An artist I wasn’t entirely familiar with prior to this album. Vory gave listeners 3 standout appearances, and plays a major role on this entire album. I like how he communicates to Donda on the track “God Breathed”. His voice on this song (and the others) is very powerful & meshes well with the autotune. At times, his vocals were reminiscent of Post Malone (in a positive way). In short, he arguably gives the best performance on each song he appears on; which can’t go unnoticed.

Overall:

Every Kanye West album is going to always contain some high quality guest appearances. With that said, he utilized every feature on Donda to maximum capabilities. Some of these artists are giving career-standout performances; which made compiling this list even more difficult. Overall, I’ll definitely be playing this album a lot for the rest of the year. Thank you all for reading, and listen to Kanye West’s new album linked below.
