Sami Habib is a singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer who’s currently based in Spain. He was originally born in Galati, Romania & started his music journey at a young age while growing up there. Alongside his brother Stefan, Sami now runs the luxurious Passion Fruit Sounds record label & recording studio that they both started together. It’s exciting to see him rising & taking over the Balearic pop-trap scene over time. Sami & his team have even been spotted shooting some brand-new music videos earlier this week! Meet: Sami Habib
Me: What made you want to start making music originally at the beginning of your career?
Sami: I've been drawn to music for as long as I can remember. I started showing an interest in instruments when I was just two years old. Growing up in Galati, Romania, music was a big part of my life, and by the time I was 12, I was already performing. That passion naturally led me to pursue a career in the music industry, especially as I wanted to create something bigger, which is why I co-founded my label and studio, Passion Fruit Sounds, with my brother. Music has always been a part of me, and the industry was just the next step.
That’s awesome man! And do you remember the first song you ever made? What was it like?
Yes, I remember my first song, "Crossroads." It was quite a journey, taking nearly a year to complete. Looking back, it was a significant learning experience and a labor of love. Comparing it to my latest releases, there’s been a lot of growth and evolution in my sound and production skills. My recent work reflects more of my current style and influences, showing how much I’ve developed over time.
How would you describe this current sound of yours in your own words?
I’d describe my style as a fusion of pop, r&b and trap, shaped by my time in Mallorca and my Romanian roots. It’s a blend of catchy melodies, rhythmic beats, and a laid-back island vibe, but with a bit of edge from the trap elements. Since I started, my sound has definitely evolved—I’ve experimented more with production, incorporated new influences, and become more confident in my own musical identity. While the core of my style remains, there’s more depth and versatility in what I create now compared to when I first began.
Where does your stage name originate from? Have you ever changed your name?
My stage name is actually my real name, Sami Habib. I’ve never changed it; it’s always been a part of my identity, both personally and professionally.
I love it when artists keep it authentic with the name! And, who are some of your favorite artists or producers you’d like to work with one day?
Definitely Timbaland, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, and Kanye West. These artists and producers have been huge influences on my sound and approach to music. Their creativity, innovation, and unique production styles have always inspired me, and working with people like them would be a dream come true. They push boundaries, and that’s something I aim to do with my own music as well.
I can definitely hear those influences in your sound & creative approach. In a perfect world, what does an ideal studio session look like for you in your imagination?
In my imagination, a perfect studio or recording session is all about the vibe. It’s when everything falls into place naturally—creative energy flows, the team is in sync, and ideas come together effortlessly. The environment is inspiring, and every element, from the equipment to the atmosphere, contributes to capturing that perfect sound.
Additionally, what are some other talents & hobbies outside of music that some may not know about you?
Outside of music, I’m really into fitness—I hit the gym regularly. I also love cooking and playing volleyball whenever I get the chance. Sometimes I unwind with PC games like Fortnite, and traveling is a big passion of mine too. It helps me recharge and find new inspiration.
What has been the most difficult part of your career so far?
The most difficult part of my journey has been being independent. It comes with a lot of challenges—handling everything from production to promotion on my own can be tough. But at the same time, it’s a blessing because I have full creative control. Nobody tells me what to do, and I can stay true to my vision without any outside pressure. That freedom is priceless, even if the road can be harder at times.
The independent grind is so rewarding but is certainly full of hard work too. Is there any advice you would give to someone interested in getting started with music?
My advice would be to just start wherever you are. I began producing with an old laptop and a beach speaker—it's how I made "Crossroads." Don’t overthink it; the key is to dive in and keep creating. Research, experiment, and apply what you learn. The more you practice and refine your craft, the better you'll become.
Before we end off, do you have any upcoming releases or collaborations on the way?
I’ve got some exciting plans coming up! I’m releasing a Romanian EP soon with AndreeaSfix and Caradja. Plus, I’m working on my album, which I hope will be out by the end of 2025.

I’d love to highlight how my Romanian roots and my experiences in Mallorca have influenced my music, blending traditional elements with contemporary sounds. Also, the importance of collaboration and finding the right creative partners has been crucial in shaping my unique style.
