Intro:
ProntaCorde is today’s featured interview artist on the platform & his new single “Feel Like Doing Some Dancing” has a wonderful story behind its creation. José Alberto Gallegos, the artist behind ProntaCorde, created this music identity as an outlet for his sonic blending of various music elements & styles. Most of the music you will hear on his page is synth-based & full of rich sonic depth. During our interview, we talked more in-depth about the sound that ProntaCorde has developed. Before reading our brief conversation, make sure you check out this new ProntaCorde single below.
Me: How would you describe your creative process while making “Falling”?
ProntaCorde: When making this record, I set one rule: no guest musicians. As a synth player with no other instrumental skills, this pushed me to dive deep into sampling to craft my songs. That exploration naturally led me toward hip-hop rhythms. I also listened to a lot of old funk records, including The Avalanches, who became the biggest influence on this album.
Outside of The Avalanches, did you draw inspiration from any other specific genres or artists?
Mainly from The Avalanches, old funk/Hip-Hop records, and vintage easy-listening legends such as Les Baxter or Esquivel.
Nice! And, how would you describe your current overall style of music in your own words?
I'm currently exploring orchestral sounds and vintage instruments, blending them with synths and electronic song structures. I'm especially interested in bringing back multi-timbrality in modern electronic music!
I love all the musicality showcased in your work! Are there any themes or messages you hope listeners take away from this one?
This record is designed to sound like tuning into a radio station from another dimension, where the songs feel strangely familiar yet distinctly different.
That does make a lot of sense. From there, what was the most challenging part of creating the song during the recording process?
Living up to the self-imposed constraint of having no guest musicians!
How did you come up with your current stage name? Has it ever changed in the past?
ProntaCorde is a fusion of two Spanish words: 'Pronto' (quick) and 'Acorde' (chord). The idea was inspired by Stereolab's song Captain Easychord, and while thinking of a name, I created this variation by merging two Spanish words
That’s amazing! Outside of “Feel Like Doing Some Dancing,” are there any upcoming releases or plans that you're comfortable sharing with the readers?
Sure, I continue creating music and currently planning to do a synth-based record. Back to my roots!
Nice! And finally, in your own words, why should a new listener check out this song today?
"Feel Like Doing Some Dancing" is all about that perfect moment when the right song hits—you're ready to move, but there's still that sweet anticipation of pulling your partner in. It’s the soundtrack to dancing close, feeling the connection, and letting the music take over.
