Meet Chillz Muzik
Me: How did you initially start getting into music & the industry?
Chillz: Chilling with my Dad and my uncle Candy when I was a kid. They had a really dope music setup and they would to listen to old-school R&B cassettes and party. Shit was a vibe.
Do you remember the first song you've ever made after falling in love with music?
I don't remember specifically the first song I did but mannn I'm light years ahead of it now.
That makes sense considering how much work you’ve done! If you had to describe your music to someone who's never listened before, what would you say?
Feel like my style is pretty chill. I'm always trying to bring a unique perspective to my flow and if I'm lucky, say some things people never heard before. I used to have an aggressive style and really zoned in on the lyrical side. Now my flow is much more polished and I realize a lot can be said by saying a little.
That’s dope! Additionally, how were you able to come up with your artist name?
I was chilling kicking raps and somebody said the lyrics gave them chillz. When I was a young boi I went by Meezy. Shouts to all the ones who know lol.
Have your friends and/or family always been supportive of your music career?
Yessir. Family and peer influence shape so many elements of our journey. You get to use those stories and situations to bring authenticity to your music and the style you bring.
You’re right! Also, who are some other creatives you enjoy working with?
Orion Blackheart is a really creative engineer I worked with recently. Shouts to Rina all the way out in Greece as well! She's on my latest single "Sail Away" every collaboration we do is pure.
Is there anyone you’d like to work with that you haven’t collaborated with yet?
If ya riding with me then let's cruise.
I like that answer! Now tell me, what does the future look like for you this year?
Yes right now I'm finishing up my children's book "I Can Teach You How To Chill". My focus with this book is to help children who have anxiety and give them a fun way to find their peace. I have some new songs in the works as well...might drop a project at the end of '24.
What does a world without music look like in your imagination?
Extremely banal, stiff, and colorless.
Is there any advice you would give to someone who is thinking about getting into music?
Branding and marketing are essential keys to success in the music world. Get that right and bring some quality sounds with it. Also don't be a perfectionist...in the words of my homie Stusse "Art is never done", so share your music as much as possible and be your biggest fan.
And last, how would you describe your music in ONE word to someone who's never listened before?
Resilient
