Top 10 Album of 2021 (Part Two)

Intro:

2021 was a great year packed with tons of releases. The second half of my Top Alums list was a lot easier to come up with. There are definitely albums not featured on my list that would seem obvious, but these discussions are completely subjective. Feel free to share your opinion & own lists in the comment section at the end. With that said, here’s the first half of the Wav.Max Top Albums of 2021 list.

Its basketball imagery & themes fit perfectly alongside the album’s actual music. Cole is giving some of the best rapping & flows of his career. The production choices are exciting, while still being more accessible. The energy Cole brings over these make this album less of a chore to listen through for the more casual rap fan. It’s safe to say that we’re all experiencing the prime of his career.

This album is respected as many listeners’ favorite 2021 album. It makes sense too as Mach-Hommy is one of the most gifted lyricists in the underground rap scene. His delivery is very unique & versatile throughout all of these sample-heavy beats. Westside does an excellent job with Mach to deliver a beautiful sequel to Westside’s Pray For Paris. Both albums could be argued as the best in their year’s top album lists.

Tyler crafted an album that embodies more of his Wolf-Flower Boy sound characteristics. He’s giving some of the best verses of his career while flaunting his luxurious lifestyle under his new persona. Dj Drama adds a lot of character to the album that creates even more of a true Hip-Hop feel. Tyler also takes his production skills to another level & delivers another one of his best-produced albums. It’ll be exciting to see what direction he goes in for his next release.

Mick Jenkins is one of the most consistent rappers I listen to regularly. Elephant In The Room is special though and is one of his best releases so far. Mick displays excellent ability and packs a lot into this short tracklist. One major improvement seen from Mick on this album is his singing skills. With great music & incredible themes, this album is easily obtained the #2 spot on this list.

Isaiah Rashad made a massive return from his 5-year hiatus. That album shows how he’s perfected the art of making creative, deep, and “vibey” music. There’s still the great rapping present that we love from Isaiah, but also more accessible songs that remain true to himself. Despite the long wait, this album was worth it in the end. It’s great music for many different contexts & settings.

Overall:

What are your thoughts on the 2nd half of our Top 10 albums list? I highly recommend any of the albums from this list to anyone that may have missed out last year. Last year ended as a solid year for Hip-Hop releases. Let us know in the comments below if there are any albums we missed in our Top 10 from 2021. Thank you all for reading, and enjoy the 2021 albums listed above.
