SYEKO Talks About His Sound, Gives Honest Advice & Shares His Future Goals
Intro:
SYEKO is one of the hottest names in the northeast side of PA. The young talent has already built an impressive discography with features alongside artists such as Sofaygo & the late PnB Rock. Music is not his only sole interest, but it’s hard to deny his natural talent. This interview should be a treat for any SYEKO fan & those interested in his story. Take a look at our conversation below:
Summary:
Me: What first got you into making music?
SYEKO: When I was younger, like 14-15, I used to be so obsessed with finding new talent on SoundCloud and the whole underground thing. After listening to rap for so many years and living how I lived, I just felt like I had so much to say and rap would be the perfect outlet for that.
How would you describe your style as it develops over time?
Every day I develop more and more of a “music voice” if that makes sense. Like every time I record a song I just feel the vocals making subtle improvements to the point it’s just so sonically pleasing when I listen back to it now. I used to sound like a little kid just yelling at the mic just hoping that I hit the notes. Nowadays I kinda snap on the first take and I feel this crazy freedom like I can work with any sound I want now.
That makes perfect sense honestly. What other interests/ventures do you have outside of being a recording artist though?
Dropshipping is a big one for me. Side hustles in general actually. I have my own studio where I engineer sessions and mix and master songs. But I have this fatal flaw where I can’t lock in and enjoy spending my time doing something if it’s not making me any money. Maybe it’s a good thing maybe it’s not. I like living in luxury and buying expensive things though.
Does your family support your music journey? How do they influence your career?
They fuck with it for sure. They honestly want me to be a musician more than I want to be a musician. They motivate me to do it a lot but at this point, I’m beyond burnt out with the toxic rap lifestyle.
Following the release of your last album, which of your full-length projects do you think is the best release so far?
Embrace The Chaos will be my best one by far. Dropping it December 2nd. I really really really hope people actually take the time to listen to that whole project. Every song is so unique and just has a whole new drip to it.
That’s exciting! How do you balance keeping your music sounding fresh & give the audience what want/expect?
I don’t not gonna lie. I kinda just do what I think sounds good and put it out with no promotion. If people eat that shit up they eat that shit up. Otherwise, I don’t really care. It’s not my job to be just another person who makes all the same shit everyone else does.
Who are some artists you’d love to work with one day? And what’s the craziest collaboration you’ve been a part of so far?
I’m in full-on retirement mode right now so I don’t really see a future with artist collaborations or anything. But I think the song I was most honored to be a part of was Roll It Up with PnB Rock. The SoFaygo album was huge for me too, but he’s too famous now I can’t even use his name at this point.
Do you think life imitates art? Or does art imitate life itself?
Yeee allat
We all love the “LACUS TELLUS!” collab project with Kiddo Nel. How would you describe your relationship with Nel?
Twiiïzy x7
Additionally, do you have any advice you would give to someone that is thinking about getting into music?
Don’t. If it’s the hip-hop industry, do your soul a favor and never make a song. Even if you got major talent. It costs you your soul and happiness.
And to end off, who are some of your favorite artists?
My favorite artists are probably mikegrams, Destroy Lonely, Carti for sure, Yeat, kaisani, couple others too.
Future Plans?
Going crazy on my online business. Get shit done and keep moving. Try to forget how much time and money I wasted on music.
