Best Song On Each Earl Sweatshirt Project

Intro:

Earl Sweatshirt is one of the most talented rappers of our time. With the release of his new album Sick!, it’s about time Hip-Hop acknowledged how consistent he’s been since breaking out 10+ years ago. He’s one of my personal favorite artists, and it was hard to come up with a list like this. There are multiple songs on each project that are standouts & can be argued as the best. With that said, let’s get into this highly anticipated list.

Doris: Chum

Starting with one of the 2 most recognizable songs from Doris is “Chum”. The song is a dark, personal & grimey rap anthem that made many fall in love with Earl as an artist on a mainstream level. Earl himself makes his grand return from Samoa & delivered some of his best rapping on the first official Doris single. The music video really brings the song to life & expands on the menacing energy of this song. Many wish Earl would go back to this style he primarily used in his early days, but the songs coming up are equally as amazing.

Honorable Mention: Sasquatch & Centurion

IDLSIDGO: Grief

The album “Grief” appears on is actually my favorite one in Earl’s discography. The song is one of Earl’s darkest songs ever between its brutal lyrics & haunting production. The music video adds to these elements & was pretty unique for the year that it was released. With the combination of Earl’s distinct monotone delivery/flows & the beat’s powerful sub-bass hits, it easily stands out in his discography. I know I’m following up one lead single with another, but Earl’s proven to know what tracks to release during his album campaigns.

Honorable Mention: Faucet & Wool

Some Rap Songs: Shattered Dreams

This album was the hardest for me to pick a specific favorite from. While the lead single “The Mint” features one of his best verses on the album, “Shattered Dreams is the perfect starter for Some Rap Songs. Instrumentally, the song is extremely beautiful & his lyrics fit as well. The final lines of the chorus really set the stage for the rest of the album:

“Why ain't nobody tell me I was bleedin'?”

“Please, nobody pinch me out this dream”

Honorable Mention: The Mint

Feet Of Clay: Tisk Tisk/COOKIES

This entry could’ve been given to either individual half, but both play off each other well. The beat & flow of the “Tisk Tisk” half is pretty catchy compared to his other songs. He raps about betrayal from a former companion over a dope sample beat. Once “COOKIES” comes in though, the song is injected with energy. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was other people’s pick for Feet Of Clay.

Honorable Mention: Whole World & MTOMB

SICK!: 2010

Ending the list off is another lead single from Earl. 2010 gave fans the idea that Earl is in the best mental state he’s been in for his past few releases. He also sounds noticeably clearer & sharper with age, and he’s chosen to rap over a more accessible instrumental. The beat here is extremely hard with powerful drums & the weird sample that’s looped for the main melody. It’s hard to deny this being the best song from the new album.

Honorable Mention: Lye & Tabula Rosa

Overall:

What are your thoughts on this Earl list? (Comment Below). Again, he’s one of my favorite rappers alive so there’s always going to be bias present in lists like these. It’s very hard to say Earl has any songs that are trash though, and there are numerous ones from the albums you could replace with my picks. If you’re not that familiar with his music, I’d recommend any of these songs to start with. Thank you all for reading, and enjoy the Earl Sweatshirt songs listed above.
