Intro:

Today, we have the artist DP who grew up in New York but was born in the Poconos, PA. Fans know the young artist as the “prince of the underground”. He never saw himself as an artist until meeting & recording with longtime friend KSAV back in college. Nowadays, he’s been consistently working on new music alongside the rest of the team at CRZYTHELABEL. Before reading our full conversation below, you can follow the artist on @dp.15_ on Instagram & @dpisdirtydan on TikTok to stay connected.

Meet DP

Me: How did you initially start getting into music & the industry?

DP: College roommate (KSAV) had asked me to get on a song with him. I had been around him for a year and a half before I found out he made music. After recording the song I received lots of positive feedback but also fell in love with the creativity of developing a song. Since then I have been locked in with KSAV and TerpUCrazy just constantly making music and trying to improve my craft.

Shoutout KSAV! Do you remember the first song you've ever made?

My first song I ever recorded was “BENTY” with KSAV. First solo song was “With Me” produced by TerpUCrazy. My sound and voice so so much different now than those songs. At the time of these songs, I was really still shy and uncomfortable recording around others, but with more trials and gaining more security with myself about the music it all started to come really easy, really fast.

Where does your stage name originate from? Have you ever changed your name?

My stage name is just my initials it was the beginning of my IG and slowly over the years people see me and just started to call me “DP”.

Who are some of your favorite artists & producers to work with?

I love working with KSAV and TerpUCrazy, together we make up “CRZYTHELABEL” and it’s always good vibes when in studio sessions all together. Another producer I like to work with I found on YouTube and goes by @1Luvercy.

Your whole team has been going crazy this year! Who are some artists you would like to work with around your area in the future?

I would love to work with Cash Cobain, Lil Uzi Vert, and MattOX.

Do your friends and/or family support your music journey?

Family and friends say they support the music journey, but it’s usually fans or people I don’t really know who always showing the most love when it comes to my music.

Interesting! What are some other talents & hobbies outside of music?

Very high-level gamer and basketball Player. Really enjoy playing Apex. Other hobbies include graphic design, collecting Pokémon cards and Funkos.

How would you describe your music in ONE word to someone that's never listened before?

Unique

I highly agree with this. But for those that don’t know, could explain more about this “uniqueness”?

My style has changed since the start because I still feel I have such a diverse personality, I cannot stick to a distinct sound. I love to be creative and always try new ideas. I just get in that booth and have fun, feel the vibes and try to speak on what’s currently going on in my life.

Any future plans for your career? Additionally, who is an artist/producer you dream of collaborating with?

I plan on starting to market myself more to get into the underground show scene and try to take over. I’d really love to work with Cole Bennett and Playboi Carti in the future.

Is there any advice you would give to someone who is thinking about getting into music?

If you are serious about it don’t bullshit yourself. Keep working and always find ways to improve. And most importantly just be yourself.

And last, what does a world without music look like in your imagination?

World without music is a world without Culture.

Any Final Words For The People?

I want everyone to keep streaming “Drugs and Love” the EP with me and KSAV. Also get ready for two projects coming up, an EP with TerpUCrazy and a “CRZYTHELABEL” collective album.
