Meet: Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L

Me: Greetings! What originally got you started making music early on at the beginning of your career?

Breon: When I got into a car wreck in 2019 my fear of marking songs was taken away along with my car. So I spent hours in the studio since I couldn’t drive anywhere and that’s how I started recording one. Regular basis. I wrote poetry since about 8 years old though.

That’s very inspiring! And, how would you describe your current style of music for new listeners reading now?

Eclectic is the main way it’s been described, it’s always changing. Always in the R&B realm. I find myself leaning towards my early rock influences more with the vocal style. But anything you can drive late at night in the car to.

That’s very inspiring! From there, what was it that made you choose your current stage name? Has it ever changed at any point in your career?

I haven’t changed my name but I plan on it. Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L is a play on my first and middle name. My plan is to go by SYNDEL in the coming years.

While working in the studio, is there any specific producer or engineer you tend to collaborate with?

My engineer DB helped me craft my sound over the last few years. That’s my go-to guy! We’re always pushing each other to try new techniques musically and put each other onto new music to listen to.

It’s always great to lock in & build organically with an engineer you trust! What was your very first song like compared to new releases like “Status”?

The first song I ever made was awful. It did well on streaming about 2-3k streams. But it wasn’t me, I was trying to do more rap & new school hip hop but that isn’t my lane. I am not a rapper but I enjoy laying a verse every now and then. I’m clever with the lines when I put my mind to it. Similar to Frank Ocean, he mostly sings but it’s a special treat to hear him rap because it’s so far.

I think it’s dope though that you still incorporate that skill from your arsenal every now & then. And outside of music, do you have some hobbies or talents most fans wouldn't know about you?

Anything arts and crafts related. I take random art classes throughout the year to clear my brain and fill my schedule a bit. It all comes back to music at the end of the day. I also enjoy going to the movies, museums, and concerts!

That’s wonderful! On the topic of music again, how would you describe the perfect studio setting & experience for the readers?

8-12 hours of a small group of folks. Less than 5 for sure. Small breaks in between to talk about life, and put some good anime on the TV to watch while I’m at the mic. I’m in the studio to work, not play. I respect the studio as if it’s a spiritual place because making music is a spiritual thing.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far during your journey?

My previous manager left me in the middle of recording a project that ended up getting repurposed into the singles I’ll drop this year. I thought that guy was my friend before anything and to have someone stab you in the back like that, that knife cuts deeper.

That’s very unfortunate & it’s a shame how some people in the industry conduct themselves. Thankfully we’ll still be able to hear the material at least! Is there any advice you would give to someone else considering getting into music?

Don’t be afraid of opinions and make what you want to hear. I’ve seen so many people flip their opinion from one day to another and it’s laughable to a point. The one thing that needs to be consistent is you.

Now that is some great advice! I completely agree. And finally, what’s next for you that readers should expect after the release of “2StupidStories”?

I have more visuals dropping in 2025 starting in February. I will start to do shows since the demand is there, got a few festival offers I’m looking over. It’ll be a fun year with way more music. I want to feed the people!
